Stainless polish and cleaners are divided in 3 main categories: stainless steel polishes, stainless steel cleaners and stainless polish cleaners. Each of these is designed in order to be used for a specific type of stainless steel. There is also a wide range of types of residential and commercial stainless steel appliances. The two main types of stainless steel are polished stainless steel and satin stainless steel. The satin type is provided with a duller finish when compared to the polished stainless steel but is designed to resist oil markings much better and for a longer period of time. Polished stainless steel comes with a mirror like metal look.

Stainless steel cleaners are generally used in order to cut through different types of oil marks. These types of cleaners are considered to be stainless steel maintainers and they are meant to clean the stainless steel right before starting to apply the necessary polish. These maintainers are the perfect choice if you want to remove grease buildup from cooking ranges and stoves.Stainless steel cleaners are mainly used in commercial and residential kitchens. In these spaces, they can be used on refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, chrome, tile and escalators. Some of these cleaners may come with particular scents that are built in order to provide a pleasant and long lasting aroma after cleaning.

Stainless steel polish is designed in order to provide your stainless steel appliances with a wet and glossy look shine. This polish can also protect a stainless steel appliance and make it look better. For instance, fingerprints are likely to be the biggest headache when dealing with stainless steel products. A stainless steel polish will create the necessary thin barrier between fingertips and a stainless steel product preventing the markings from appearing. If you have to constantly dust off the stainless appliances or furniture, a stainless steel polish can help you repel the accumulated dust. However, if you are using a stainless steel polish in your food service, you must make sure that the products you are using for polishing the stainless steel products don’t contain chlorinated solvents that could contaminate food.

Stainless steel cleaners and polishes blended together can provide you with the help you need in order to clean your stainless steel products and maintain them in a perfect shape. They will remove dust and fingerprints and leave a brilliant shine on every type of stainless steel. When purchasing a stainless steel polish or cleaner, just make sure that you know the exact type of nozzle fitted to the can. The can nozzles may be round and oval hollow.  Keep in mind that an oval nozzle is likely to be better when you have to clean and polish smaller areas. Other general recommendations for stainless steel cleaning include: washing the stainless steel surfaces with plenty of warm soapy water and by using a mild detergent, using a sponge or very soft and clean cloth, rinsing with plenty of warm water, drying the whole surface by using a soft and dry clean cloth and going with the grain of the stainless steel.

You must also prevent yourself from using the following cleaning methods as they are too harsh for stainless steel appliances. Cleaners such as acidic or abrasives ones (chlorine bleach, ammonia, citric-based cleaners or vinegar-based cleaners) must be avoided. Scouring pads such as textured plastic scrubbers, wire or metal scrubbers are to be avoided as well. The most difficult cleaning tasks should be completed with the help of a special stainless steel cleaner that is designed to target the appliances made of stainless steel. Stainless polishing kits are also available and you can use such a convenient set because the basic items that are necessary to polish and clean your stainless steel appliances are all included.
